Stamping Inkspiration Blog Hop: Sketch Challenge

Happy New Year and welcome to the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop! Hope your new year is off to a good start. This month the blog hop is a Sketch Challenge with some Glimmer ‘n’ Shine.

Here’s the sketch.

Now here is a little confession, I didn’t see the Glimmer ‘n’ Shine part till I started writing this post. If I were to enter an emoji it would be the head slapping one. How did I not see that? I do have a little glimmer but you will have to put on your glimmer glasses on to see it.

This is a great layout and one I will refer to and use again.

  • Secret Sea CS card base 4-1/4″ x 11″.
  • Basic White CS layer 4″ x 5-1/4″.
  • Lovely Blossoms DSP 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.
  • Basic White CS layer cut using the Lovely Arrangement dies.
  • Old Olive CS leaves cut using the Lovely Arrangement dies.
  • Secret Sea Faux Linen Ribbon.
  • Basic White CS flower (Lovely Arrangement stamps) inked in Secret Sea ink.
  • Cloud Cover CS flower (Lovely Arrangement stamps) inked in Secret Sea ink.
  • Sentiment from the Lovely Arrangement stamps inked in Secret Sea ink and cut using the Lovely Arrangement dies.
  • Secret Sea dots from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots.

Are you wondering how I cut down the connected dot from a rectangle to a square?

The die cuts out a 4 circle by 6 circle rectangle. I wanted a square so I placed the die back into the die 2 dot columns down.

Simple right? This is a good little trick to remember. Originally I just trimmed the circles off, which seems like it would be so easy. The result was not a clean round edge. Using the die to cut the edge was fast, easy and perfectly curved.

  • Basic White CS layer 4″ x 5-1/4″.
  • 3/4″ x 4″ strip of Lovely Arrangements DSP.
  • 1/4″ x 4″ strip of Lovely Arrangements DSP. I had this strip leftover from some other project and decided to add it.
  • Cloud Cover CS flower inked in Secret Sea.
  • Old Olive leaves cut using the Lovely Arrangement dies.

Here’s where you need to use your imagination. I applied Wink of Stella to both flowers. I think you can see it best on the Cloud Cover flower but I admit it doesn’t scream Glimmer or Shine. If I had really read the hop description I would have done something to enhance the glimmer and shine.

Now it is time to hop on over to see what the talented Danielle Kassing has made for you.

Here’s a list of all the stops on the hop.

Aurélie Fabre  ●  Leonie Stuart  ●  Mo Rootes
