Cottage Rose Friendship
Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop! We are a group of international Stampin' Up!® demonstrators who have gathered together for a monthly blog hop. The blog hop goes live on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. This month we have a sketch challenge. The sketch can be used for a card, 3-D project or a scrapbook page layout.
What would you make with this sketch? I chose to make a card and immediately thought about something in black and white stripes.
I started off by making my own striped background using Basic Black and Basic White cardstock. The Basic Black strips are 1" wide and 4" long. I layered the black strips on a Basic White CS measuring 4" x 5-1/4". I used the Cottage Rose bundle. I used the rose to represent the large circle and the 2 smaller circles to be the leaves and the smaller flowers. I used Stampin' Blends in Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight to color the image. The sentiment is from the Through it Together stamp set stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I have friends going through some big things and think this card will be perfect to send to them. The banner was cut using the Stylish Shapes dies. The Gold cord bow was made using the Simply Elegant Trim. The red gem is a Red Rhinestone Basic Jewel.
Inside of the card I added another flower stamped using the Cottage Rose stamp set and colored using Stampin' Blends. The Old Olive leaf was cut using the Cottage Flowers Dies. Just a simple embellishment to complete the cad.
Now it is time to check out what the talented Chris Smith has created with this sketch.
Here are all the stops on the hop! Enjoy!

Love the pop of colour on that black and white background!!
The strong black and white horizontals are breath taking on their own but are a fabulous ground for that boldly coloured rose. Great card!
Wowo, nice project! Thanks for sharing! Xx
