Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop…Shaking Things Up!

AWOW hop header

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop!  We are an international group who have joined together for this blog hop.  Every month we hop on the 2nd Wednesday of the month .  We have a theme and it is always fun to see all the different projects.  This month our theme is Shake It Up and try something new.

The first thing that came to mind was to make a shaker card but I couldn't think of a way to make it different or new so I scrapped that idea.  I have been wanting to stamp with the Delivering Cheer set.  I think it is such a fun set and a lot more versatile than it looks.

I did some paper piecing on the skirt using the lovely black and white gingham paper from the Pattern Party DSP.  I also cut out the flower bouquet and added the Real Red Sheer ribbon.  Are you wondering how did I shake things up?

I added a brad and attached the skirt to the flower bouquet.  You cannot see the brad because I covered it with a fussy cut paper wrap of the flowers.  I secured down the flowers to the card but left her legs free so it can move.

It is kind of silly but it was fun to make.  I don't think I have ever done this before.  Next time I will convert her skirt to resemble a hula skirt.  Wouldn't that be fun?

Other than the Delivering Cheer set I also used a sentiment from the Friends Are Like Seashells set.  The tiny flowers were cut using the Peach dies and the black frame is from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Now it is time for you to hop and see how the talented Teri West shook things up.

  1. BRILLIANT idea, Sharon!!! Love the paper pieced skirt and the fussy cut flowers, but making her swing with a “Brad” is wonderful! It’s almost like she’s dancing! Thanks for the inspiration and for hopping with us.

  2. Great cards! I’m not sure I totally understand how you made it but it’s beautiful. I loved the host set we had several years ago with a similar style and can’t wait to play with this one.
